Flag Football

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the Eagles?

The Eagles exist to educate, instruct, and develop youth character and athletic ability through the sport of football. We are a non-profit, volunteer-run youth football organization.

We have two divisions:

Flag

Teams are formed by age/grade and skill level and play in the Platte County Youth Football League.

Tackle

Teams are grade-specific with age requirements by grade and ball carrier weight limits. The Eagles are aligned with the Liberty North High School boundary in the Kansas City Football Cheer league.

How do I join the team?

Register through our website and you'll receive an invitation to join the grade-appropriate team in the TeamSnap app. Once you accept the invite, you'll have access to the roster and schedule with more details about practice.

What makes this flag program different than Parks & Rec?

Our flag program is full contact with helmets and is intended to prepare athletes for tackle football.

Is there a deadline to register for the season?

Registration fees increase after July 1 but registration remains open until July 16, 2024. Players must complete the registration process prior to starting practice.

Where and when do you practice?

Flag teams typically practice 2 times per week. Most practices are held at Hodge Park, which is located on 96th Street off I-435N.

Coaches set the practice schedule for their team so days/times may vary. The schedule may be different at the beginning of season before school starts (typically, there will be an extra day of practice for tackle teams). Practices may start and end earlier as the season progresses when daylight hours are lost.

Any practice schedule changes will be communicated through TeamSnap.

Note: walkthrough practices may still be held under the heat rule (temperature is 95 degrees or above or if the heat index is 105 degrees or above).

When and where are games?

Games are typically played on Saturdays throughout the fall season at Platte Ridge Park. The schedule will be released mid to late August.

Game week #1 is Labor Day weekend. Post-season play may extend through the first weekend of November for teams that advanced through the playoff bracket.

What is the cost and what does it cover?

$250 paid to Eagles

Registrations before July 1 will receive a $25 discount.

League and Eagles team fees are included in the price listed above. League fees cover items such as insurance, game fields, officials, and administration. Eagles fees cover uniforms, equipment, and practice fields.

Families in need of financial assistance can may complete a scholarship application

Do you offer scholarships?

Scholarships are available for families in need of financial assistance. The 2024 scholarship application deadline is July 12, 2024.

What equipment is needed?

What paperwork is required?

A sports physical is NOT required for flag football.

Am I guaranteed a spot on the team?

Yes!

Are there roster limits, tryouts, or cuts?

Our flag and tackle leagues do not have roster limits so cuts are not necessary.

If we exceed the maximum roster number at a particular grade, we will split into separate teams, typically an A and a B team.

The first several practices will be used as skill evaluations to determine positions and team assignments, if necessary.

Which league do you play in?

What are the requirements for coaches?

What is the refund policy?

Refunds will not be issued until all equipment is collected. Refund requests need to be submitted via the Opt Out form ASAP to determine possible refund amounts.
